Andrew and Melody are both from Pine Level, North Carolina! They have known each other since the 4th grade. They grew up playing at this park so it seemed only fitting that their engagement session be there.

I love lindy hoppers.

I met Rebecca when she lived here in North Carolina. She moved to Seattle a little while after she and Paul started dating and she has been deeply missed in the dance community on the East coast. She announced her engagement and I was pretty excited when she inquired with me about her wedding photography. Unfortunately I wont be living in the area (yet) during her wedding which just happens to be THIS Saturday! Whoops! They have changed their date since they inquired. Its now October 15th! Yay!!!!!!

However, I happened to have a free day last week when we were in the Tacoma area house hunting. So we got together and took some engagement photos. They live like 10 minutes from Pikes Place Market (I am so jealous!) and wanted to do photos there. I dont think any of us thought about it being a holiday weekend and the market was crazy packed. I dont think it helped that Bumpershoot was going on at Seattle Center either. We still had some fun though. :)

…they ate some Beechers mac&cheese. It looked awesome.. one day Ill have to try it.

they saved the wind tunnel until the end of the session but surprisingly Nina’s hair still looked super fly afterward as well. Hooray for hairspray!

Sarah and Todd are getting married in June here in NC. They might look a little familiar as this was their second engagement session with me. Their first was in an antique store. It was a pretty awesome session. But, they also wanted something outside too so we met up here in Smithfield and had some fun. It rained a LOT the day before so it was a little muddy but we did what we could. It was an absolute gorgeous day.

Over the Christmas holidays I got a very excited call from my friend Randi. Tyler had just proposed and she was calling to tell everything the awesome news! I was of course SUPER excited for her even though I had only met Tyler once before when they first moved in. Over the last few months we planned out their engagement session and we figured we would do it when she came back home for my baby shower. About a week or two before the shower some photography friends of mine (Kaye Murphy and Jessi Field) told me they wanted to do a “shoot out” type event while I was in town and I was super excited for that too- until they told me the date. It was the same and only date I could shoot Randi and Tyler’s engagement session! So, I asked if they needed models still and they did and “VOILA!” Problem solved AND they got some awesome shots out of the deal. Shoot outs are always interesting and usually you get some pretty amazing stuff from them. I happen to love all of these photos because she (and I guess THEY) is my friend. Oh and Randi, you should be happy I decided not to throw in some awesome photos of us back in the day. We LOOKED awesome as 9th graders… just sayin.

While everyone else was taking photos of Randi I grabbed a few shots of Tyler. He is dashing isnt he?

They also brought their kiddos Tokyo and Omelette out for some photos too!

Jessi let me borrow her Tilt Shift lens and I think I fell in love. Ive rented it for a few upcoming sessions I have and Im excited to do more fun things with it! I think the rest of these photos were taken with it, it took a while to get the focus down.

I wish I had been able to get both eyes in focus. Oh well. She’s still gorgeous!
