Two Less Fish | South Carolina Aquarium | Charleston Wedding Photographers

Oh man have I been looking forward to this wedding for a long time! Alex first messaged me right before we moved back to NC and was hoping I was coming back to NC so I could be her wedding photographer. Luckily enough for her we we’re coming back to North Carolina. However, their wedding was to be in the absolutely beautiful Charleston, South Carolina at the South Carolina Aquarium! I met up with the couple a few months back for their engagement photos and it made me even more excited for this weekend. They are such a fun couple and sometimes you can just tell people are good together. Miles and Alex are one of those couples, they just mesh.

We started the day off with their first look at the bride’s college in Charleston, she also graduated in that same spot! How fun! The weather couldnt have been any better for this pregnant gal. For the bridesmaids it was a bit cold it turns out. But the light! Oh the light was incredible.

My favorite things about their wedding were:

I LOVED the bridesmaid dresses. I am convinced that wrap dresses are the best option for bridesmaids because you can wear them however the heck you want! GENIUS!

Alex is a little obsessed with The Wizard of Oz and I love that there were little details all throughout the wedding inspired by it.

Having a wedding/reception in an aquarium is so smart. It gives your guests something to do while we are off snapping photos and it’s pretty awesome. How many people can say a super old sea turtle attended your wedding? Not many people I bet.

I loved how romantic the ceremony felt. Sure, it was definitely a challenge to photograph but it was so different and felt way more intimate than others Ive attended or photographed. PLUS since it was SO difficult to photograph, less camera photos were out. Silver linings people.

He is seriously the BEST DJ Ive ever encountered (and I’m not even just saying that because I know him because he is ALSO a lindy hopper). He has been a DJ at a few weddings I’ve either attended or photographed and he always knows how to keep the party going. He is an awesome crowd reader and you need to hire him for all of you events… Because the guy is reception in aquariumweb_0908It was seriously such an awesome, fun wedding.

I hope Miles always makes you smile the way he has every time Ive seen you with him Alex.hilary mercer photography - charlestonMy goodness! There is a reason I dont use vertical photos alone on my blog much. They are huge! Oh well. Thank you for trusting me in your big day, it is an incredible honor.
